An Arts & Crafts silver, blue enamel and turquoise brooch, with gold bead highlights, designed as a stylised flower, by Charles Robert Ashby for the Guild of Handicraft.


The brooch has a hidden surmount to the reverse to be worn as a pendant.

A very similar design by C.R. Ashbee can be seen in Elyse Zorn Karlin (2004) ‘Jewellery & Metalwork in the Arts and Crafts Tradition’, 2nd Revised Edition, page 119.

Marks:
Apparently unmarked with regard metal or maker.

Date:
Circa 1900.

Length:
3.5cms.

Condition:
General slight surface marks in keeping with wear.
One turquoise chipped.
One turquoise with fine crack and associated nicks.
