A Scottish silver agate scalloped brooch, depicting various banded agate, jasper and seaweed agates.
Popularised by Queen Victoria after the Royal visits to Scotland, wherein she picked up ‘pebbles’ of quartzes and agates which were then designed by Prince Albert into jewels fit for a Queen. These gems filtered down into the general populous with the expansion of the railway allowing greater tourism into the highlands and greater appreciation of the gems available locally.
